A Mixed-Reality Project coming in 2018
Artificial intelligence is hailed as the inevitable way of the future, transforming the way we interact with machines and each other. In an age of big data and smart devices, we all leave behind an ever-expanding digital trail – used by machine-learning programs to improve tools, predict preferences, mimic conversations and construct a digital portrait of who we are. As big companies race to build machines that emulate the human mind, could we use our digital footprints to bring a digital self to life? Chomsky vs Chomsky is a Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality experience that investigates the prospects, limitations and pitfalls of AI, interacting with our ultimate guide – a Chomsky-Bot.
Drawing from a vast arsenal of digitized Chomsky videos, lectures and available online materials, this room-scale, multi-user MR experience invites visitors to slow down and learn about the process of AI. Through immersive interaction and play, we understand how machine-learning works, identify what it tries to reproduce, and discover how it differs from human cognition. By venturing into the mapped thoughts (and mind) of one of today’s greatest thinkers, we discover the human – and its remarkable endless creativity.
